With my drawings I am alluding to the ceaselessly mutating relationship between humans and the natural world, and specifically the way in which we (humans) warp animals and nature to fit our own needs through personification, objectification, and actual physical transformation through specific breeding, farming, hunting, etc. I have always drawn animals, I am obsessed with their textures, their movements, their forms. I am fascinated by the nature of nature; how much of our understanding of the natural world is based upon preconceived notions, myths, and objectifications? All of these overlaid symbols, mystifications, and prejudices are costumes laid over the reality of the animal so that we can better pretend that we’re not animals ourselves.   I am fascinated by the way the human body relates to the animal body, and attempt to capture both the physical symmetry and the awkward differences in my work.
