Maybe it’s due to my heritage or growing up in the East Los Angeles area or being a born again Christian all of which make me up as an individual and an artist that the activist is in there somewhere. I feel compelled to speak of things that I read about or hear about or experience through life as artwork. The meaning of each piece is very important to me and since I use imagery sometimes metaphorically or symbolically to describe my subjects I like to attach a paragraph description to the name of each piece when it’s shown in galleries. As much as I enjoy that people appreciate the artwork, my hope is that they appreciate the meaning as well when they read it. It's the point and the reason I make this kind of artwork.
