"My visionary surreal paintings play with the past and the present. I paint citations and paradoxicals in the manner of the Old Masters, in oil–egg tempera glaze. The past in my pictures is a metaphor for a better understanding of the present; it allows us distance from the events of the day. I mostly start with a structured dark ground. Out of this ground slowly grows a complex scene, with the help of my subconscious, always open to new surprises. I hope you enjoy my pictures."
