Searching for answers to some of the oldest and most philosophical of questions, Hector Javier Ramirez is fascinated by the sublime. Focusing on the darker side of the equilibrium, his work explores our fundamental values and humanist qualities, bringing them to life on a pretty impressive scale. Measuring not less than a metre high, Ramirez’s paintings and charcoal drawings dominate their hanging space and leave us immersed in their presence. “My work is about the loss of human values and how the animals are more human than the human - we fight, we kill, just for pleasure”. He says, addind “I dont like the beautiful bodies and perfect forms, I like the grotesque, the ugly people, the fat people.”
