José Luis Serzo (Albacete, 1977) is one of the most promising Spanish artists. He is a diligent narrator, craftsman of fables and other possible universes. Serzo builds worlds that transcend reality, and far from being a shelter or a refuge against a hostile panorama dominated by pessimism and violence, these worlds try to be a positive alternative, a hopeful platform from which to tackle and transform art and even life. Committed and belligerent with this cause, Serzo places himself in an avant-garde contemporary position, he doesn't resign to technical virtuosi and to the tradition of the trade, and he demands the potency of art as a cathartic resource to transform the world. This way, his stories support themselves by the coexistence of painting, sculpture, installation, drawing, script and video, which make up an immense “Total Work of Art”.
