I feel blessed as a creator as I was afforded an opportunity to work privately as an artist and visual philosopher until the work itself was ready to be born into a larger context. For many years my professional creative life as an actor acted as a patron of sorts that allowed me to work unfettered by contemporary tastes and fascinations.
Over a quarter of a century ago I took a page from the American Transcendentalists and began hosting discussion groups and gatherings at my home, Olandar. These gatherings are to ask the questions of how do we live an examined life, seek to understand and then creatively challenge all beliefs that enslave perception. Let us not fight over form but unite with vision.
The art works I present here and on my website are the outcome of love and a willingness to attend to the garden of wonder at the base of human knowing. These visual entities and ideas have taken me on an amazing journey through the realms of archetype and Watchers, through multidimensional environments, orbs, Phoenix birds, alien languages and sacred alchemical mysteries to name but a few.
This journey has been a blessing, even in its darkest hours and so I hope you enjoy my work and please let me know not what you think of my art but rather what my art makes you think.
Thank you,
Leigh J. McCloskey
