Luis José Estremadoyro is recognized by European and Latin-American art critics as one of the most outstanding and important living figurative painters in the world.
Estremadoyro’s work is represented in prestigious private collections and in major public collections such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, USA: the Museum of Modern Art in Medellin, Colombia; the Uribe Velez collection, in Medellin; the Carton y Papel de México collection in Mexico DF; and in the Cabinet des Estampes de la Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris.
In 1990 Estremadoyro was invited to become a visiting teacher of painting at the esteemed École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Today, Estremadoyro lives and works in Lima, Peru, where he explores new technologies to express his insightful worldview, while focused on the creation of work based on the stylizations, techniques, and inspiration of the Old Masters.
