Murielle Belin

Murielle Belin, painter and visual artist, was born in Avignon in 1976. She now lives and works in Nancy. Since the age of 10, she has regularly spent her time visiting several artist's studios (painters, puppeteers, magicians, sculptors, poets). She first took an interest in restoring paintings, but then decided in 2002 to focus on artistic creation. Using oil paint on wooden panels to create her paintings. Jars, taxidermies, the leftovers of animals' bodies, clay and paint for her sculptures. Charcoal, chalk, Indian ink for her drawings. Between surrealist pungency and the amber hue and warmth of the Flemish primitives, her work always refers to some figures of Art History. Nevertheless her practical experience remains instinctive. She paints where it bleeds and sculpts where it itches. Bodies then loom on the horizon, pale beauties, occasionally monstrous, the strip of which sounds like a confidence.”
