My preferred medium is pen-and-ink, because of its potential for extreme detail and high contrast. It’s also very affordable and technically challenging. Surrealism is a natural art style for me where my imagination can be freely expressed. If I can create an image in my mind, I should be able to draw it on paper, but it’s rarely that easy. I also feel that realism is an essential part of surrealism, and so I try to improve my technique by challenging myself with different subjects. Currently, I earn a decent living as a chemist, although all fields of science are interesting to me. In the future, I plan to devote more time to my artistic endeavours, possibly expanding into sculpture and painting.
