Rodney Gee

I was born in 1978, in Cape Town, South Africa

I have been creating art since my birth. In high school I got introduced to Surrealism which influenced me greatly. During my tertiary education I got into Ballpoint Pen art, and started creating surrealist works.

My artistic career was invigorated by joining the online art community, DeviantArt. I then discovered the Exquisite Corpse Community, a collective of the most inspiring artists. I collaborated, mainly in pencil, with the member's of this elite community.

My style shifted to pencil and I got exposed to Visionary Art, Fantastic Realism and Digital painting. I bought a tablet PC and crossed over to this new medium in 2005.

I feel that art should be something exceptional enough to engulf your focus, for me it's a combination of attractiveness, technique and your closeness to it subjectively.

I want to create pieces that inspire by blazing with beauty. Like an amazing movie or a remarkable song that just captures your heart and makes you consume it over and over again. I want to achieve that with my art. I want to make something that you can stare at forever without getting bored; something that you can fall in love with its sheer exquisiteness. I create because it allows me to feel obsessed and engulfed in my own imagination which is a very enchanting place: it completes me. It allows me to meeting cool people, as I am a very shy person. I really enjoy the concept that I am providing entertainment to others and when I am gone fragments of me will remain, it's my devious attempt at immortality.
