My work can seem dark even scary or disturbing. To create pieces that are both magical and real is the challenge. To meld nature with spirituality and enigma with elegance inspires me. This requires me to search for beauty in unexpected or shadowy places within a world on the edge of reality. Long fascinated by rites, ceremony and practitioners of such acts, my work is influenced by various religions and belief systems.
The goal is to create art that is at once alluring and unsettling, comfortable and vexatious as well as haunting and perplexing. I find art that has no relationship with reality to be limited in it's ability to affect the viewer; all idea, no soul. The content of my paintings is an intuitive collaboration between life experiences, research and my fertile dream world. I am thunderstruck by the power and magic of art. It is my savior and muse.
