Semra Turkmen

I was born in 1971 in Bulgaria to a Turkish family. I have been drawing actively since my childhood, to be more precise, since the time my hand could hold a pencil. My education in art is a natural consequence of this active work. 

In 1989 I migrated to Turkey together with my family. I received a BA degree in the field of literature from Istanbul University, yet chose art, my vocation, for my life track.

I  took part in the organization and exhibition of the  1st Istanbul Surrealism  Exhibition in 2000. I think it won´t be too wrong to say that drawing is an instinctual activity for me. Generally, my work is in a fantastic style. Everything concerned with life and humans can be observed in my works. I am trying to reflect this in my works as well as I can, so they could speak enough for themselves.
