Lila

Lila Journal Lila is sanskrit for 'cosmic play' a perspective that envisages the world as the creativity and play of the divine. The website was created by painter and writer Daniel Mirante in 2000 ad as a resource for people exploring 'medicine culture'; shamanic forms of creativity and healing of the whole being, including breathwork, rebirthing and plant-based entheogenic practices. Past contributors have included Professor Michael Winkelman, Dr Stan Grof, Dr Karl Jansen, Flore Singer Aaslid and Dr Benny Shanon.

The practice of visionary painting (aka 'Fantastic Realism') strongly entered the rubric in 2004 ad. Lila participates and assists development of visionary culture through maintaining strong affiliation with related projects such as Elvism.net, and generates a rich current of news and original content including regular interviews and features with artists and authors exploring imagination and visions. The importance of visionary art is seen in its ability to bypass the linguistic mind and directly present the phenomenological realities of the imaginal realm.
