Old Skool VS. New Skool – Pulse Contemporary Art Fair NYC

The Juxtapoz Factor (Juxtapoz School) NYC book launch

March 5 through March 8, 2009

Copro Gallery, in our debut appearance at Pulse NY is excited to present Old Skool Vs. New Skool, a mix of pioneering Old Skool artists contrasted against another generation of New Skoolers who are direct beneficiaries of the artistic breakthroughs spearheaded by Robert Williams, Robert Crumb and Rick Griffin.

This exhibition organically grows from an art movement that has been documented and promoted by best selling art magazine Juxtapoz. Laguna Art Museum recently featured and validated Juxtapoz's support and influence of this skill-based pop surrealist movement with a block buster exhibition curated by Meg Linton of Otis college of Art and Design. Following this with a just released historic catalogue In the Land of Retinal Delights – The Juxtapoz Factor (Juxtapoz School) Copro Gallery will be hosting the East Coast Launch and book signing on the first day of Pulse.

On display will be: R. Crumb's, "Fritz The No Good", the entire long lost "City Of The Future" from Zap 0,  Robert Williams most famous and controversial painting "Appetite for Destruction" (below right,)  Rick Griffin's masterpiece of cross hatching "OMO Bob" and much more. These important artists helped bust down the underground door for a new generation and movement of fresh artists with a brand new style.

These New Skool artists ranging from visionary Lola, Nathan Spoor, Dan May (below right) and Laurie Lipton of London to New York artists Martin Wittfooth, Ron English and Travis Louie will present their latest work.  We hope you join us for this museum quality exhibition and book signing event.
