For Benjaminsen, designing fairies allows her to dive into her inner world to explore and connect with inspiration from her surroundings. On creating the collection, she writes, ' It’s a joy to interpret nature through playful animism and to take on the role of a naturalist as I render my discoveries into being. The liminal space where my inner and outer worlds merge is where magic happens and fairies can be found'.
As an artist, Benjaminsen believes in the simple power to shape and influence the world. She wishes for the world to feel slower, more thoughtful, and romantic. Her botanical icons hold these wishes and honour eternal love, the power and agency in the creative act, and for hope to outshine shame. She hopes that her work brings a sense of re-enchantment to those who view it.
