Soft Place is the body of work Julia A. Rich's child self dreamed about—a place filled with luscious fauna and flora from the Philippines and Australia. It's a world where, when one cups their eyes tight, dark squiggles come to life. Rich invites us to feel soft with them in our collective inner place, to reflect on our memories and culture; to build harmony within contradiction.

This exhibition delves into the complex cultural identity of being Asian-Australian. Each piece reflects soul-searching through the vibrant exploration of Filipino and Australian culture, Rich weaves her heritage into a vibrant, cohesive narrative. Each painting in Soft Place explores either a familial allegory or a personal story from Rich's childhood. Through these intricate tales, Rich attempts to reconcile different facets of her identity; learning to celebrate and embrace her cultural heritages.
