It’s well-known that Elephants love to play with water, and I imagine divine elephants are no exception. The Airavata comes from the Hindu legends of the deity Indra, who rode the Airavata into battle with the serpent Vritra. Airavata is said to be capable of producing clouds. It once sucked up water from the Underworld with its great trunks, to make rainclouds for the land of the overworld. - Camilla d’Errico
