Jason Briggs

Jason Briggs obtained his BFA from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 1995 and his MFA from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1999. After a tenure at the Archie Bray Foundation in Helena, MT, he devoted three years as the Artist in Residence at the Appalachian Center for Crafts in Smithville, TN. In 2008, he addressed the NCECA conference with an Emerging Artist lecture. Soon after, he was invited as a visiting artist to The Taiwan National University of Art in Taipei and several American universities. Among his accolades, Jason received the Virginia Groot Foundation Fellowship in 2007 and a Tennessee Arts Commission Grant in 2006. His work was notably featured in Ceramics Art & Perception's issue #79 and has been exhibited at venues like the Mutter Museum in Philadelphia and the Wexler Gallery. Briggs’ art seeks a fusion of intrigue and tactile fascination, urging viewer interaction and challenging perceptions.
