Kate Gorman is an artist living in the regional city of Ballarat, Victoria, Australia.
Gorman primarily focuses on sculpture and installation, with the physical act of making at the forefront of her practice. She uses traditional sculptural techniques such as bronze casting and carving to convey a sense of whimsy and provoke reflection.
Recently her work has been created in response to the impact of climate change on the Australian landscape. Through carving and bronze casting found natural objects, she explores the concept of ‘solastalgia’ – the distress produced by environmental transformation through factors such as mining and climate change...
