Naoto Hattori – Lucid Dreamer
Lucid Dreamer is an exhibition of miniature paintings by Japanese artist Naoto Hattori. In Hattori’s reflective, psychedelic works, meticulousness is married to stream of consciousness: he often uses tiny brushes, bringing a meditative process to his work. His goal is always to express himself freely, unhindered by labels or anything else beyond his own aesthetic and imagination. Lucid Dreamer provides painted snapshots of Hattori’s vision.
Opening Reception: Saturday, November 3, from 6pm – 9pm. Free entry.
Exhibition runs from November 4 to November 25 and runs alongside Renée French’s solo show, Creatures the Colour of Steve McQueen’s Hair in the Great Escape.
Naoto Hattori was born in Tokyo, Japan, where he studied graphic design before moving to New York City to attend the School of Visual Arts. He has received awards from the Society of Illustrators and the New York Directors Club, and his work has been published in various art magazines.
