Nom Kinnear King

Nom Kinnear King (United Kingdom) creates imaginary portraits of girls who roam from town to town in a patchwork old fashioned never world, where rusty melodies trail their steps, their curious behaviour shadowed by sweet melancholy.

The things that Nom loves always weave their way into her painting: impressionist and pre-Raphaelite art and what she has read, from Wilkie Collins to Lenora Carrington and all-time inspirations like Picnic at Hanging Rock. But the greatest of inspirations come from her three little children, the stories that Nom and they make up together, the books she reads to them and the adventures they all have together.

Originally from the countryside of Norfolk, Nom Kinnear King studied fine art at the Norwich School of Art and Design, going on to live in such places as Brighton and London, England, Varese, Italy, and Melbourne, Australia, before returning to the city of Norwich.
