"Many of the newer pencil drawings and small watercolours in The Red Tree exhibition are based on sketchbook doodles from over the years, particularly revisiting early concepts from 2000 that did not necessarily fit within the structure of the original book, including some more emotionally ambiguous and positive imagery. Revisiting this universe was an interesting experience. In some ways it feels nothing has changed, while at the same time many things have changed, a slightly different approach, style and interpretation." - Shaun Tan
