“When we die, our bodies become the grass, and the antelope eat the grass, and so we are all connected in the great circle of life…” (Mufasa, The Lion King)

Natural burial, sometimes called green burial, is the practice of burying a human body in the earth in a manner that allows for natural decomposition with minimal impact on the surrounding ecosystem. Honouring the body after death and contributing to the cycle of life, where practical needs and emotional connections meet - in essence natural burial encourages the nutrients of the body to return to the Earth in the most environmentally friendly way possible.

Natural burial allows for significantly faster decomposition. As it takes place in a shallow grave. The body is buried at a green symmetry or natural burial site of which there are several locations across Australia. That now cater, The coffin casket or shroud will be made of degradable natural materials such as cardboard. Simple wood cane cotton linen or viscose with no metal plastic or synthetics, grave liners and burial vaults aren't used. The body is dressed in biodegradable, fibres or clothing. The body is not embalmed. It's kept cold until the day of burial and the grave is sometimes marked with a natural grave marker a tree or none at all.
