Dave Cooper
Dave Cooper began his career in the 1990s creating underground comics for Fantagraphics Books. His periodical Weasel won both Ignatz and Harvey Awards in 2000, while his graphic novel Ripple featured an introduction by David Cronenberg.
In the early 2000s, Cooper shifted into oil painting, exhibiting in Los Angeles, New York, Paris, and Angoulême. His painting monographs have included introductions by David Cross and Guillermo del Toro.
From 2008, Cooper expanded into animation, creating Pig Goat Banana Cricket for Nickelodeon and The Bagel and Becky Show for Teletoon/BBC. His 2016 adult short The Absence of Eddy Table...

Cooper returned to painting in 2017, producing 70 works for a major 2020 Paris exhibition and completing a large-scale museum commission inspired by Bosch’s The Garden of Earthly Delights. In 2019, a 400-page retrospective, Pillowy: The Art of Dave Cooper, was published, and Cooper joined the board of Ottawa’s SAW Gallery. That year he also directed his first live-action short film, Squash.
Cooper lives in Ottawa, Canada.
