A pencil study for the yet to be completed oil painting Versailles. A take on the events of the 5 October 1789, otherwise known as the October Days, were thousands of market women marched on and besieged the royal palace of Versailles. The artwork, which conflates a couple of separate events, commemorated the role women played in the revolution. - Sean Layh
