Annie Montgomerie - Railing Latchers

Railing Latchers is an exhibition of new works by Annie Montgomerie opening at Beinart Gallery’s new location, 307 Victoria St, Brunswick.

Opening reception: Saturday, February 27th, 5pm - 9pm.

This exhibition will run from February 28th to March 21st and will coincide with Erik Thor Sandberg's show, What Follows and our annual group exhibition of Australian artists, Antipodes 2021.

Montgomerie’s inspiration for this show is a long-running theme through her work: childhood, including the hopes and fears she held growing up. She captures these things in the moods of the figures, on their faces and in their stances. The Railing Latchers are the ones that cling to the railings outside of school begging not to have to go inside, or those at playtime in huddled groups waiting for the bell to ring to get back into the warmth.
